What This Is

Village is a private community platform — like having your own Facebook, but owned by your community, not a corporation. Your stories, photos, conversations, and events stay within your community. No ads. No tracking. No data harvesting.

Village Insiders is a shared Village where up to 200 people from diverse backgrounds use the platform together and help us understand what works and what doesn’t. This is a working platform, not a demo — your data is real and sovereign, stored on servers in New Zealand and Europe with no data flowing through US cloud services.

                This is not a trial that converts to paid. The Insider community is an opportunity to explore a sovereign digital platform and help us tailor it to the needs of different communities. Your participation shapes how Village evolves — what works, what feels right, what could be better. What We Ask of You

Rate the AI. Every AI answer has a thumbs-down button. Your feedback directly trains a better model. Wrong answers are expected — your corrections are the product.
Explore and report. Try features. Tell us what works and what doesn’t. Click your avatar and choose Feedback, or start a discussion in the community.
Bring your perspective. This community deliberately includes people from diverse backgrounds — technical and non-technical, different cultural contexts, different expectations. Your unique viewpoint is why you’re here.
Be patient with beta. Features may change. Some things may break. We fix them quickly and tell you what happened.

How It Works

Before March 31: Pre-selected testers evaluate the Village privately.

March 31, 12:00 GMT: Free access opens. Anyone can request an invitation to the Insider Village and receive instant access — full features, no restrictions, no time limit.

200-member principle: When the community reaches 200 members, it federates — a second Village connects to the first. This demonstrates the architecture we believe in: meaningful community at human scale.

Built On

No US services. Servers in New Zealand (Catalyst Cloud) and France (OVH). No Google, Amazon, Microsoft, or Cloudflare anywhere in the stack.
No surveillance. No tracking pixels, no behavioural profiling, no advertising. The platform is funded by community subscriptions, not by your attention.
No algorithmic manipulation. You see what your community shares, in chronological order. No engagement optimisation, no filter bubbles.
Indigenous data sovereignty. Designed in consultation with Māori data sovereignty researchers. CARE Principles and Te Mana Raraunga inform the architecture.

Help Us Get This Right

Village supports over 100 languages, including indigenous languages that are rarely served by digital platforms. Inside the community, members can read, write, and navigate in their own language — without having to switch to English or any other colonial language to be understood.

We built this because we believe no one should have to abandon their language to participate in digital life. But building it is not the same as getting it right. Machine translation makes mistakes. Cultural context matters more than literal words. Nuance is easily lost.

                We need indigenous language speakers to join the community and tell us where the translation falls short — what it misunderstands, what it gets wrong, and what we should know that a translation engine cannot teach us.
